When we took Grace to the pediatrician the other day, she only weighed 13 pounds, 14 ounces. We are pretty sure that she had already gained at least a little bit of weight since we picked her up from Layla.
She has still been maintaining the same schedule at night, waking up every four hours. The days have been kind of crazy though. She never lets more than three hours pass between feedings, and often only one or two. She used to take four ounce bottles and leave a little behind. Now, she takes anywhere from four to eight ounces, and don't forget the increased frequency!
Will stood on the scale with her today and discovered that she weighs at least 14.5 pounds. Our scale doesn't get any more exact than that, so it could be a little more. Wow! The on-demand feeding can be a little challenging, but seeing such good results is very encouraging. I'm looking forward to seeing what the scale says at the doctor's office on May 3 when we go in for her physical. Ü

- I am the wife to a wonderful man named Will, and Mom to 5 amazing kids. Both Will and I were widowed before we met. We had 3 children between us when we married. We welcomed a new addition 1 1/2 years later. The pregnancy and birth were wild, so we decided to be "done". God had a different plan. We were introduced to international adoption, and started that process 11/04. We brought our 5th child home from Ethiopia 4/06. You could say our kids are Your's, Mine, Our's and Someone Else's. 8^) We are just grateful that they are all OUR'S! Someday, we will adopt from Ethiopia again. We know there is an "older child" that is meant to be part of our family. We trust that God will let us know when the time is right. Parenting is the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever taken on. I am not an expert, but I'm happy to share any insights I gain along the way. I also appreciate any tips I can glean from my readers. After all, it takes a village, right?!

Please remember bottle fed babies are different then breast fed babies. They need more to fill them up. She is definitely old enough for 8 ounces and baby food. She is a growing little girl. Feed her as much as she wants!!
Glad to hear she is doing well and gaining weight. She looks pretty healthy to me.
