More Practice

Since Grace's hair is too short for most styles, Kayla was nice enough to let me practice some of the new stuff I've been learning on her. She wiggles a lot less than Grace too. 8^) One of the ladies in the Hair/Skin Care Group recently said, "If you can do these styles on slippery Caucasian hair, then Black hair will be a breeze." I don't know it that's true, but getting Kayla's long, slick hair all parted and put up was not an easy feat. I'm pretty happy with the results though, and even more importantly, so is she. 8^)

She looks gorgeous! You did a great job. That's a wonderful idea to try them on Kayla so you can get faster and faster which Grace will like too. You're such a great mom.

Can you come and do my hair? :) That looks so good! I'm amazed that you can do that. Although, Isabella's hair is curly its pretty soft and fine - totally the opposite of mine, so I've had to learn how to do things to her hair. I haven't even started worrying about Amelia's. :) For me with my crazy hair, its either throw it up in a huge clip or leave it down, not to many fun options. My cousin and I were just reminiscing about the days of banana clips -- that was the only way we could get our "big" hair into the ever cool side ponytail. :) See if my mom had learned to do all this, I could have had some cool hairstyles!

Nice parts. I would think that would be the easier part about straight hair, but maybe not (haven't tried parting straight hair before).

Meron is in piggy back braids (1st time I've done them) right now. It looks similar to what you did with Kayla's hair except that you braid the first box and then use that braid as 1 of the 3 strands for the second box. Yours looks "cleaner"(for lack of a better word), but I'm worried about using that many rubber bands in her hair.

I keep meaning to take a picture of it and get it up on the blog. Hopefully this week.

p.s. - We love the Baby Aveeno for Teeny's skin. Thanks for the recommendation! I'm travelling the 2hrs to civilization on Friday and planning to pick up some shampoos that I've read about on a couple of haircare sites (I think the sites that one of your commenters recommended, actually). I'll let you know...

You guys are the best!! Thanks for the encouragement. I can certainly use it. 8^) I think this was actually a nice "bonding" experience with Kayla. When referring to a pre-teen girl, those are few and far between. Hopefully, she'll let me practice on her again soon. I'll keep you posted!
